Swiss coach Marcel Koller kept quiet when asked about his future after Al Ahly’s elimination from the African Champions League.
The Reds were held to a 1-1 draw against South Africa’s Sundowns in the second leg of the semi-finals on Friday at Cairo Stadium, ending their hopes of defending the title.
The first leg had ended goalless, and the same result in Cairo meant Sundowns advanced to the final. Koller expressed his disappointment in the post-match press conference, noting his team’s resilience despite the outcome.
“The first leg’s result was misleading. Sundowns scored at a crucial moment, and we couldn’t recover,” Koller said. Despite the setback, the coach refrained from commenting on the rumors surrounding his departure, offering only a smile in response.
With the Champions League dream over, Al Ahly now face the task of quickly bouncing back in the Egyptian Premier League, where they will meet Petrojet on April 30.
