Marc Giger: Union SG’s Swiss-Cameroonian forward linked with move to Hungary’s ETO FC

Swiss-Cameroonian striker Marc Giger of Union Saint-Gilloise is being linked with a move to Hungarian top-flight side ETO FC, with the NB I. club reported to be exploring a deal for the 22-year-old centre-forward.

Giger, who represents Switzerland and Cameroon at nationality level and was born in Kilchberg, has a contract with Union SG until 30 June 2029, meaning any transfer is expected to require a significant fee. His current market valuation stands at around €800,000, giving an indication of the level at which negotiations would likely begin if ETO FC choose to formalise their interest.

The forward joined Union SG from Swiss side FC Schaffhausen on 31 January 2025 in a deal worth €350,000 and has since broken into the Belgian champions’ first-team picture. He has made 18 appearances in the Jupiler Pro League, scoring three goals and adding one assist, while also gaining experience in European competition with minutes in the UEFA Champions League.

Giger has already collected silverware in Belgium, being part of the Union SG squad that secured the league title in the 2024-25 season and lifted the Belgian Cup in 2026. His development has also been shaped by spells in Swiss football with Paradiso, Schaffhausen and Linth 04 after coming through the youth ranks at Grasshoppers.

For now, Giger remains under a long-term deal in Brussels, with Union SG in a strong position to decide his next step as ETO FC assess whether to turn their interest into a concrete offer.
