Marc Brys, head coach of Cameroon’s Indomitable Lions, has taken a firm stance ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, declaring that the country’s FA president Samuel Eto’o will not be permitted to enter the team’s locker room during the tournament.
Brys made the bold statement while addressing journalists, emphasizing his commitment to maintaining a focused and stable environment for his squad.
This decision stems from controversy during AFCON 2023, when Eto’o confronted players in the locker room, questioning their dedication and targeting naturalized players for allegedly lacking passion.
The incident reportedly caused tension within the squad, leaving some players feeling disrespected by the football legend’s remarks.
Determined to avoid similar issues, Brys has set clear boundaries between the team and FECAFOOT leadership.
“Eto’o will not enter our locker room; it is forbidden!” Brys declared.
“The group is mature and competent enough to handle the situation. It is not the first time for many, and I am 100% sure that we will be ready if the mentality is good and if the passion and enthusiasm are present from the beginning. I am a positive person, so I do not deal with the negative, like, for example, FECAFOOT.”
