Diego Maradona is currently in Algeria as a guest of the telephone operator Mobilis, which is launching 3G services across the country. Maradona’s visit includes presenting the trophy for the best Algerian player, likely to be Islam Slimani. It is reported that Maradona received a fee of one million euros for his participation in this event. Mobilis aims to compete with its rival Ooredoo (formerly Nedjma) in the Algerian market. Mobilis is a subsidiary of Algérie Téléco, which has signed a memorandum of understanding with Real Madrid for a match against the Algerian selection, with the main objective of bringing Cristiano Ronaldo to Algeria in 2014.
