Mandanda Reflects on PSG Defeat: “We Lacked Realism”
Despite a 2-0 loss to Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday evening at the Parc des Princes, Olympique de Marseille goalkeeper Steve Mandanda remained composed and analytical in his post-match reaction.
Speaking to Canal+, the OM captain acknowledged the defeat, attributing it to a lack of finishing quality:
“We lost tonight simply because of a lack of realism. We had some great chances, we had good control at the start of the match, but we didn’t manage to convert them, and Paris were much more realistic than us.”
Mandanda also pointed out that the performance wasn’t poor despite the result:
“When you look at the content, in Lyon or Paris, there are some very good things. We didn’t do badly but once again we lost, so there is a lot of disappointment. But the championship continues, there are a lot of matches left and we are still ahead.”
Despite the setback, Marseille remains top of Ligue 1, holding a narrow one-point lead over PSG. The title race is still wide open, and Mandanda’s calm assessment signals OM’s focus on the long season ahead.
