Manchester United have intensified their pursuit of Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies, with reports indicating the Premier League giants are preparing a significant summer move for the Canadian international.

According to BILD editor Christian Falk in his Bayern Insider column, United have identified the 25-year-old as a “headline target” to solve long-standing issues on the left side of their defense.

While United have monitored Davies for several seasons, the transfer landscape changed significantly in February 2025 when he signed a contract extension tying him to Bayern Munich until June 2030.

Despite this long-term commitment, Falk reports that Bayern officials may now be open to a “concrete offer” due to the player’s persistent injury struggles.

Davies is currently sidelined with a hamstring strain—his fourth setback of the current campaign—and is targeting a return for the April 4 clash against Freiburg.

The Red Devils’ interest comes at a time of transition, with interim manager Michael Carrick reportedly favoring more dynamic options at wing-back.

United have already conducted informal inquiries with Davies’ representatives and are believed to be gathering “extensive information” before making a formal bid.

However, any potential deal would likely require a fee exceeding £70 million, given his profile and the length of his remaining contract.

Club ownership under INEOS is reportedly determined to succeed where Real Madrid previously failed in their pursuit of the player.

With current left-back Luke Shaw also battling fitness issues, the acquisition of Davies is seen as a priority for the upcoming summer window to provide world-class quality and reliability to the squad’s defensive unit.
