Manchester United set to pass on PSG forward Ibrahim Mbaye

Manchester United are reportedly unlikely to pursue Paris Saint-Germain forward Ibrahim Mbaye despite recent speculation linking the teenager with a move to Old Trafford.

Transfer reporter Alex Crook believes the 18-year-old Senegal international is not currently a realistic target for the Premier League club.

Reports had suggested United made an enquiry about Mbaye, while Liverpool have also been credited with interest. However, the Reds are understood to be reluctant to meet PSG’s asking price, leaving the youngster’s future uncertain.

Mbaye has already made history in Paris as PSG’s youngest-ever starter, but regular first-team football has remained difficult to secure. Any reported interest from United could therefore be connected to the player’s desire for more consistent opportunities.

Speaking on The Window, Crook said: “I find this one a little bit unlikely when it comes to United. Marcus Rashford is back in the building.

“He’s got that number 14 jersey for the new season. Michael Carrick has been speaking glowingly about the attitude that he’s shown during training so far.

“So, it does look like Marcus Rashford will be integrated into the United first team after 18 months out on loan.”

United have already signed teenage winger Tynan Thompson and are expected to prioritise an experienced attacker if they strengthen further. Their principal needs remain a midfielder and a left-back.
