Manchester United not ruling out Carlos Baleba signing
Manchester United have reportedly clarified their summer transfer plans as the club continues its search for midfield reinforcements ahead of next season.
The Red Devils are expected to strengthen their midfield department, especially with Casemiro edging closer to a possible departure from Old Trafford. United are understood to be targeting at least one defensive midfielder, while additional options could also be brought in as the club prepares for a return to the UEFA Champions League.
One player who remains firmly on United’s radar is Cameroonian midfielder Carlos Baleba of Brighton & Hove Albion.
The Cameroon international was heavily linked with a move to Manchester United last summer, but the deal failed to materialise after Brighton reportedly placed a valuation of more than €100 million on the midfielder.
Although Baleba has not enjoyed the same level of prominence in the Premier League this season, reports suggest United are still interested in reviving negotiations for the former LOSC Lille player.
Transfer insider Ben Jacobs claims any potential agreement will depend heavily on Brighton’s willingness to lower their asking price to a figure United consider more reasonable.
Meanwhile, United have reportedly decided against pursuing a move for Cole Palmer, with the club said to have made a final decision to end their interest in the Chelsea FC star.
