Manchester United lead Premier League race for Senegal star Assane Diao
Manchester United are reportedly in pole position to sign Senegalese international Assane Diao from Italian Serie A side Como, with the young winger attracting strong interest from several Premier League clubs.
The Red Devils are believed to have been impressed by Diao’s performances and potential, with their scouting department closely monitoring the 21-year-old as they assess attacking options for the future.
According to reports, Manchester United’s scouts have been particularly impressed by the Senegal international’s profile and development in Italy.
Diao has made an encouraging start to the current campaign, scoring three goals and providing one assist for Como across all competitions. Since joining the Italian club in January 2025, he has registered 13 goals and three assists in 41 appearances.
His form has placed him firmly on the radar of a number of Premier League clubs, with Brentford, Liverpool, Newcastle United, Aston Villa and Everton also reportedly keeping tabs on the winger.
Manchester United, however, are said to be leading the race for his signature as they continue to monitor his progress.
Como are understood to have no intention of allowing Diao to leave cheaply. The Serie A club are reportedly demanding a fee in the region of €50 million to €55 million for the highly rated forward.
That asking price is considerably higher than his current estimated market value, with Transfermarkt valuing the Senegalese international at around €35 million.
Diao remains under contract with Como until June 30, 2029, giving the Italian club a strong negotiating position should interest from England develop into formal offers.
With several Premier League clubs reportedly competing for his signature, Manchester United could face a significant battle to secure the winger, particularly if Como maintain their €50-55 million valuation.
