Premier League giants Manchester United have made a firm decision to tie down England international of Ghanaian descent, Kobbie Mainoo.
Mainoo, who struggled for playing time under then manager Ruben Amorim has earned the trust of new manager, Michael Carrick.
Mainoo’s confident performances under Carrick have convinced the club’s management to offer him a new deal, aiming to secure the talented midfielder for the long term. Both parties are expected to begin contract extension talks next week, but will not be in a haste to finalize the deal.
The 20-year-old midfielder was promoted to the Manchester United first team in 2023, where he made an immediate impact for the club. Since breaking into the senior team, Mainoo, has racked up 89 appearances, scoring seven goals and delivering four assists across competitions.
Currently, Mainoo’s contract with the three-time Champions League holders runs until summer 2027. Amid growing interest, the Red Devils has moved to extend his stay with an improved contract offer.
At the international level, Mainoo has racked up ten appearances for the Three Lions of England since his debut in 2024. He was outstanding at the 2024 European Championship, where England finished second after final defeat to Spain.
