Manchester United dealt with new blow as England-Ghanaian midfielder Kobbie Mainoo out for six weeks

Manchester United has been dealt with a huge blow as Kobbie Mainoo is expected to sit out for the next six weeks.

The 19-year-old was one of three Manchester United midfielder to pick up an injury in training last week and miss the 1-0 defeat at Spurs alongside Manuel Ugarte and Toby Collyer.

While the pair are only expected to be ruled out for a short time, Mainoo could be faced with six weeks on the sidelines due to a calf injury.

The Red Devils could therefore be without the English born of Ghanaian descent until April at the latest when they take on Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.

Mainoo is therefore expected to miss out on crucial league clashes against Everton, Ipswich, Fulham, Arsenal and Leicester.

However, the blow is not only a setback to Ruben Amorim but also to Thomas Tuchel, who will lead England for the first time in the World Cup qualifiers against Albania and Latvia during the international break in March.

Languishing in 15th place in the English top flight, Man United are set to face a tough second half of the season, as if the first half wasn’t challenging enough.

With 10 more players out with injuries at the moment, the Portuguese manager will need a miracle to turn the club’s fortunes around until the end of the season.
