Manchester United crisis deepens as Bournemouth secure 3-0 Premier League win

Manchester United’s difficult start to the season worsened on Sunday as Bournemouth recorded a convincing 3-0 victory at Old Trafford, with Amad Diallo in the starting line-up.

The home side struggled from the opening stages and produced a poor first-half display. Michael Carrick’s team went into the interval two goals behind after Bournemouth capitalised on defensive mistakes.

The defeat adds to the pressure surrounding United, who had won only one of their first seven Premier League matches. It also came on a day when captain Bruno Fernandes was left on the bench by Carrick.

Fernandes had been critical of the manager’s tactics, while the Portuguese manager had also criticised his tactics. The decision to omit United’s captain before kick-off added to the scrutiny on Carrick as the club’s poor run continued.

Bournemouth took the lead after 38 minutes. Rayan finished an attack created by Justin Kluivert, giving the visitors the reward for their early pressure.

United were unable to recover before half-time and fell further behind five minutes later. Marcus Tavernier scored Bournemouth’s second, with the visitors again taking advantage of uncertainty in the Manchester United defence.

Carrick responded at the interval by sending on Matheus Cunha for Youri Tielemans. The change did not produce an immediate response, however, and United remained unable to reduce the deficit.

Kluivert, who had started for Bournemouth and provided the assist for the opening goal, was replaced by Ben Doak shortly after the hour mark.

The visitors’ substitute made an impact as Bournemouth added a third goal less than 10 minutes after Kluivert’s departure. Evanilson completed the scoring to confirm a 3-0 win and leave Manchester United facing another damaging result in the Premier League.
