Manchester United are reportedly exploring a player-plus-cash deal to sign Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen next summer.
The Red Devils are prepared to include Dutch forward Joshua Zirkzee in the offer, alongside a cash sum, to secure Osimhen’s services.
Osimhen, 25, is currently on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli, where he has been in fine form, contributing eight goals and five assists in 11 appearances across all competitions this season. With his loan spell set to end, the Nigerian international is widely expected to leave Napoli permanently when the summer transfer window opens.
Several top clubs, including Arsenal, Chelsea, and Paris Saint-Germain, have been linked with Osimhen. However, Manchester United have now joined the race as they prioritize the acquisition of a reliable number nine for next season.
Joshua Zirkzee, who has struggled to make an impact at Old Trafford since joining in the summer, is being considered as part of a proposed swap deal. Manchester United are reportedly preparing a package worth €40 million plus Zirkzee to entice Napoli into accepting the deal.
Napoli, however, has set Osimhen’s release clause at €75 million and is expected to demand the full amount from any suitors. The player’s current Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) stands at €63.1 million, reflecting his impressive performances this season.
As the summer approaches, Manchester United will have to navigate stiff competition and meet Napoli’s demands if they are to secure the Nigerian forward’s signature.
