Manchester City’s poor run continued as they were beaten 3-1 by Nottingham Forest in the 10th round of the Premier League, suffering a third consecutive league defeat.
Jair gave Nottingham Forest an early lead in the sixth minute, finding the bottom-right corner with a low shot.
Liam Delap doubled the advantage 12 minutes later, firing home from inside the penalty area to put Forest 2-0 ahead.
Manchester City responded seven minutes after half-time when Rayan Cherki reduced the deficit with a powerful strike from inside the box.
However, Delap scored his second goal of the match with a further effort from inside the area to end City’s hopes of recovering at least a point.
The result means Manchester City have now lost their past three Premier League matches, following defeats by Aston Villa and Brighton.
City remain second in the table on 21 points but are six points behind leaders Arsenal.
Their position is also under threat from Brighton. If Brighton beat Brentford in the same round of fixtures, they will replace Manchester City in second place.
Nottingham Forest moved up to nine points and are 16th in the Premier League table.
