Manchester City sign Brazilian winger Allan from Palmeiras for initial £32m

Manchester City have signed Brazilian forward Allan from Palmeiras for £32m, with a further £2m potentially payable through performance-related additions.

Allan has agreed a five-year contract and will remain at the Etihad until the off-season of 2031.

The Brazilian, who is primarily used on the right wing, becomes the latest player to move directly from Palmeiras to City. He can also operate as an attacking midfielder or second striker and has occasionally played at full-back, offering manager Pep Guardiola further tactical flexibility.

“This is a surreal moment for me. Manchester City, with everything they have won over the past 15 years, are one of the most attractive clubs in the world for players. To be able to sit here today and say I have joined them is the proudest moment of my life,” Allan told the club’s official website.

The 20-year-old leaves Palmeiras after making 96 senior appearances for the Brazilian club. He scored nine goals and supplied 12 assists during his time with the team.

Allan said his affection for Palmeiras had not made the decision to move to England any less straightforward.

“I love Palmeiras and always will – but the decision to come to City was an easy one. I want to be the best footballer I can be and the conversations I’ve had with the people at City so far has convinced me there isn’t a better place for me to fulfil my ambitions.

“I want to promise the Manchester City fans I will give absolutely everything to make the most of this opportunity.”

His transfer extends an established link between the two clubs. Gabriel Jesus moved from Palmeiras to Manchester City in 2017, while defender Vitor Reis completed the same journey in January 2025.

Allan’s versatility has been a key feature of his development. Although he has spent most of his career on the right side of attack, his ability to play in several advanced and defensive positions gives City another option across the pitch.

The move also marks the next step in a career that has so far been built entirely in Brazil. After progressing through Palmeiras’ senior ranks, Allan now joins a Manchester City squad with a record of major success over the past 15 years, a period he referenced in describing the club’s appeal.

The deal consists of an initial £32m payment, while the additional £2m will depend on the player meeting performance-related conditions.
