Manchester City see no reason to part with Marmoush as Tottenham focus on Savinho

Omar Marmoush is expected to remain at Manchester City this summer despite interest from Tottenham, with the Egyptian forward still highly regarded at the Etihad Stadium.

Marmoush, 27, is not considered an automatic starter for the Manchester club, but that has not changed City’s view of his importance to the squad. According to Mike McGrath, a journalist at The Telegraph, the club does not currently intend to allow the Egypt international to leave during the transfer window.

McGrath discussed Tottenham’s interest in Marmoush on the Last Word On Spurs podcast, explaining that the London club admire the forward. Manager Roberto De Zerbi is also said to be an admirer of the player.

However, a move to Tottenham appears unlikely at this stage. The discussions between the two clubs are understood to be focused primarily on Savinho, with the Brazilian currently regarded as Spurs’ main transfer target.

Tottenham’s pursuit of Savinho means Marmoush is not the central focus of negotiations between the clubs. As a result, the Egyptian is expected to continue his career under Enzo Maresca, while Manchester City retain a player they still consider useful to their squad.

City’s willingness to keep Marmoush comes despite his lack of guaranteed first-team status. The club continue to value the contribution he can make to the group and are not considering a separation from a player they believe remains an important squad asset.

Marmoush is under contract at Manchester City until June 2029. His current market value is listed at €50m following the latest update to the data held by Transfermarkt.

The forward earns an annual salary of €17,183,908, equivalent to 11,169,540,200 FCFA. Those contractual terms further underline the scale of any potential deal should Tottenham eventually decide to pursue him rather than Savinho.

For now, though, the available information points towards Marmoush staying in Manchester. Tottenham’s attention remains directed towards Savinho, while City have shown no indication that they are prepared to sell the Egypt international.

Marmoush’s position in the squad may not be that of an undisputed starter, but his standing within the club is strong enough for Manchester City to consider retaining him. Tottenham’s interest and De Zerbi’s admiration have therefore not led to a move, with the forward set to remain at the Etihad Stadium beyond the summer unless the situation changes.
