Manchester City have confirmed the acquisition of England international of Ivory Coast descent Marc Guehi in the current transfer window.
Guehi joins the Premier League giants from Crystal Palace for a transfer fee worth £20 million and is expected to play a huge role for the club.
The rock-solid defender, who was the captain of Crystal Palace penned a five-and-a-half-year contract that will keep him at Manchester City until summer 2031.
He becomes the Manchester-based club’s second signing in the ongoing winter window after Ghana’s Antoine Semenyo.
Manchester City beat out several clubs that were interested in signing Guehi, including Liverpool, who negotiated to sign him in the last summer transfer window.
Guehi joined Crystal Palace from Chelsea for €24 million in 2021. Over the years, he established himself as a true leader for Palace, making over188 appearances for the club, scoring 11 goals and providing 8 assists.
With his wealth of experience, he is expected to play a significant role for Manchester City, who are keen to revive their campaign following an inconsistent performance in the current campaign.
