Samir Nasri is determined not to experience another defeat at Wembley Stadium. With the League Cup final between Manchester City and Sunderland looming, the French midfielder is keen to emphasize the significance of the upcoming match to his teammates. Nasri believes that a loss in the final could have far-reaching consequences.
“I’ve been on the losing side of this Cup in the past with Arsenal,” Nasri recalls. “And afterward, we struggled, winning only two Premier League matches. That’s why a victory is absolutely crucial.”
Reflecting on his previous defeat at Wembley during the 2010-2011 season with Arsenal, Nasri admits to having few fond memories of the stadium. “I don’t have many positive memories from Wembley, except with the Blues,” he remarks. “I’ve suffered defeats there, once with Arsenal and another with City.”
Nasri’s words highlight the importance of securing victory in the League Cup final, not only for the trophy itself but also to avoid any potential negative effects on the team’s performance in subsequent matches.
