Manchester City are once again considering a move for France international Maghnes Akliouche, despite earlier suggestions that their interest had cooled following the arrival of Rayan Cherki last summer.

According to L’Équipe, the Premier League champions remain attentive to the 23-year-old midfielder’s situation.

Akliouche, of Algerian descent, has been on City’s radar for some time. Although he is currently experiencing a dip in form, he has enjoyed a breakthrough year at the international level, earning five caps and scoring once for France after an impressive summer that surpassed expectations.

The Monaco academy graduate attracted widespread attention during the last transfer window, with clubs such as Tottenham Hotspur, Bayer Leverkusen, Paris Saint-Germain, and Manchester City all expressing interest.

However, Monaco’s €70 million asking price kept potential buyers at bay and ensured he remained on the Côte d’Azur.

Despite that, Akliouche continues to draw admiration. In 19 appearances across all competitions this season, he has contributed three goals and four assists, performances that have kept Manchester City’s door open for a possible future move.
