Manchester City receive injury boost as Franco-Algerian Rayan Cherki returns to training
Premier League giants Manchester City have received a major injury boost as France international of Algerian descent Rayan Cherki returns to training.
The 22-year-old winger, who joined Manchester City in the summer sustained an injury setback in matchday two of the Premier League campaign and has since not featured for the club.
Since joining the Premier League giants, the former Lyon star has played for just 71 minutes and netting one goal. Ekitike was ruled out of the September international break due to the injury setback, with Hugo Ekitike taking up his place.
Cherki has thankfully started training again with Manchester City ahead of the UEFA Champions League clash against AS Monaco on Wednesday.
The winger underwent medical last week, which showed that the injury, which he sustained at the end of August, had fully healed.
The Franco-Algerian attacker could have been involved in the game against Burnley over the weekend, but he ultimately missed that encounter.
It is not expected, however, that the former Olympique Lyonnais man will be involved in the Monaco. Cherki could face Brentford in the Premier League in the upcoming weekend.
Despite his recovery, Cherki is expected to miss out on the France squad for the 2026 World Cup qualifying games in October.
