Manchester City omit Erling Haaland as Ayoub Bouaddi and Rayan Ait-Nouri start against Norwich

Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca has made several changes to his side for the League Cup third-round tie against Norwich City, leaving Erling Haaland out of the matchday squad.

The fixture will decide the final place in the last 16 of the competition. Fifteen teams have already secured qualification for the next round.

Manchester City’s starting XI is:

Goalkeeper: Geronimo Rulli

Defenders: Rico Lewis, Abdukodir Khusanov, Vitor Reis, Nico O’Reilly

Midfielders: Ayoub Bouaddi, Mateo Kovacic, Floyd Samba

Forwards: Alan Elias, Rayan Ait-Nouri, Rayan Cherki

Haaland’s omission is the most notable change, while Bouaddi and Ait-Nouri have been named in the starting side for the meeting with Norwich.

The Manchester City substitutes are Gianluigi Donnarumma, Elliot Anderson, Marc Guehi, Iliman Ndiaye, Enzo Fernandez, Matheus Nunes, Antoine Semenyo, James McAtee and Caden Braithwaite.

The draw for the last 16 took place on Wednesday evening, with the winner of Manchester City’s tie against Norwich City set to face Brighton.

Brighton reached the next round after eliminating Manchester United in the third round. They came from behind to win 3-2.
