Manchester City has taken a big step ahead in the race to sign Lyon’s rising star Rayan Cherki.
The 21-year-old French-Algerian winger, who dazzled in the second half of the season, is now a top target for Pep Guardiola’s side.
Sky’s Patrick Berger reports that City are deep in talks with Cherki, who is open to the move. While no agreement between Lyon and City has been confirmed yet, reporter Santi Aouna claims the player has already settled personal terms with the Premier League champions.
Borussia Dortmund, long linked with Cherki, have not made any recent push for him. With English midfielder Jobe Bellingham as their main focus and the need to trim their squad, BVB is currently on the sidelines. Cherki’s growing value, now said to exceed €30 million, may also be a factor in Dortmund’s hesitation.
Elsewhere, Manchester United are interested but face setbacks due to their absence from European competition. Liverpool have reportedly shown no serious interest in the creative forward, leaving Man City as clear frontrunners.
