Lampard Explains Manchester City Loan Move
Frank Lampard has defended his decision to join Manchester City on loan, following his recent signing with MLS side New York City FC.
The former Chelsea midfielder, who made over 600 appearances for the Blues, has faced criticism from some fans for linking up with a Premier League rival. But speaking to Manchester City’s official website, the 36-year-old said he is excited by the challenge.
“It’s been an incredible few days for me since my presentation in Brooklyn. The understanding between the two clubs has been fantastic,” Lampard said.
“This is a new chapter in my career and I’m very excited for this new experience. I met Manuel Pellegrini and various players in New York and I’m looking forward to training and making my contribution to Manchester City.”
Lampard is expected to remain with the Premier League champions until the start of the 2015 MLS season, when he will join up with New York City FC ahead of their inaugural campaign.
