Manchester City insert special clause ahead of Omar Marmoush’s imminent Tottenham move

Manchester City have inserted a special clause into Omar Marmoush’s loan agreement ahead of the Egyptian forward’s imminent move to Tottenham Hotspur.

Marmoush is expected to join Tottenham on loan until the end of the season after struggling to secure regular playing time at Manchester City.

According to Spurs Web, City have included a clause preventing the 27-year-old from playing against his parent club during his loan spell at Tottenham.

The restriction means Marmoush will be unavailable when Tottenham face Manchester City in the Premier League this season. He would also be ruled out if the two clubs meet in either of the domestic cup competitions.

Marmoush’s imminent departure comes after a difficult spell at the Etihad Stadium, where he has struggled to establish himself as a regular starter following his arrival from Eintracht Frankfurt.

The Egyptian international enjoyed an impressive spell in Germany, attracting significant attention with his goalscoring ability, pace and versatility before earning a move to Manchester City.

However, competition for places in Pep Guardiola’s attack, particularly with Erling Haaland leading the line, has restricted Marmoush’s opportunities.

Tottenham are now hoping the temporary move can provide the forward with the regular first-team football needed to rediscover his best form.

Spurs are reportedly set to have an option to sign Marmoush permanently for £50 million, with the deal potentially becoming mandatory if certain conditions are fulfilled.

The move is also expected to strengthen Tottenham’s attacking options, with the club looking for greater consistency from their forward line.

For Marmoush, the transfer represents an opportunity to revive his fortunes and reproduce the form that made him one of the most exciting attacking players during his time at Frankfurt.

However, despite becoming a Tottenham player on loan, he will not be permitted to face Manchester City this season because of the special clause included in the agreement.
