Wilfried Bony on His Move to Manchester City: “Yaya Touré Is Like a Big Brother”
Fresh off a high-profile transfer from Swansea City to Manchester City for over €38 million, Wilfried Bony has expressed his excitement about reuniting with compatriot Yaya Touré at the Premier League giants.
Currently with Ivory Coast for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations, Bony spoke to France Football about the significance of playing alongside the four-time African Ballon d’Or winner:
“I’m going to play at City with him, it’s an honor for me to be by his side. He’s a good person who gives me a lot of advice. He guided me. And when he heard the news, he encouraged me. He’s like a big brother to me, a guide. I’m going to show him my gratitude by working hard.”
The former Swansea striker, now a Manchester City man, believes the move will provide an extra boost during the continental tournament:
“I can concentrate 100% with the national team, and it will definitely boost me in a positive way.”
With his transfer completed and a strong support system in place, Bony is aiming to shine for both club and country in the coming months.
