Manchester City and Bayern Munich interested in signing English-Ghanaian defender Josh Acheampong
European powerhouses Manchester City and Bayern Munich are reportedly keeping tabs on Chelsea defender Josh Acheampong, Africasoccer has gathered.
The 19-year-old, who has been with Chelsea for a decade, is not pushing for an exit but is aware of the growing interest from top clubs. No formal approaches have been made, and with Chelsea’s stance and Acheampong’s loyalty, any move this winter remains uncertain.
Nevertheless, both Manchester City and Bayern are understood to be tracking his game time closely in anticipation of potential opportunities next year.
Acheampong has featured 11 times across all competitions this season, including five Premier League appearances.
Although he had not started a match since October, he was handed a starting role against Atalanta, where he impressed despite Chelsea’s 2-1 Champions League defeat, making a crucial first-half block to prevent a near-certain goal.
The young England youth international also played a key role in Chelsea’s 2-1 victory over Cardiff City, helping the Blues secure a place in the EFL Cup semi-finals.
