Man Utd push to sell Tyrell Malacia after PSV title success

Tyrell Malacia

Manchester United are actively seeking to offload left-back Tyrell Malacia this summer, with club officials working to identify potential suitors for the Dutch defender following his return from loan.

Malacia, who is of Curaçaoan and Surinamese (largely of African roots) heritage, joined PSV Eindhoven on a temporary deal in January after a prolonged injury layoff that sidelined him for most of the previous two seasons.

The move revitalised his career, as he regained match fitness and played a pivotal role in PSV’s Eredivisie title triumph — which included a memorable victory over rivals Ajax.

Despite his resurgence in the Netherlands, The Mirror reports that United are eager to cash in on the 25-year-old, who joined the club from Feyenoord in 2022 under then-manager Erik ten Hag.

However, the search for a permanent buyer has so far proven difficult, with limited interest materialising during the early stages of the transfer window.

Malacia’s performances for PSV demonstrated that he has recovered from his physical setbacks, yet there is a sense at Old Trafford that he no longer fits into United’s long-term plans.

The club is believed to be prioritising funds for reinforcements elsewhere in the squad and views the sale of fringe players like Malacia as crucial to raising capital.

Wolverhampton Wanderers were reportedly interested in signing Malacia during the January window but were ultimately beaten to his signature by PSV.

It remains to be seen whether Wolves or any other Premier League side will revive their interest this summer.
