Mourinho Hopes for Diego Costa’s Return Ahead of Manchester United Clash
Uncertainty surrounds Diego Costa’s availability for Chelsea’s highly anticipated clash against Manchester United on Sunday. The striker is struggling with a groin injury and was also hospitalized on Friday due to a stomach virus, casting doubt over his inclusion.
At the pre-match press conference, manager José Mourinho remained hopeful:
“There is a chance, he has a small chance of playing. Like Ramires and Obi Mikel, but the only thing that can be official is that Loïc Rémy is out,” said the Portuguese coach.
Mourinho explained Costa’s troubling week:
“Everything happened for Diego. He was obviously injured, in the groin, but he had to go to the hospital with a viral infection that we couldn’t resolve, without him spending at least one night in the hospital. That was before the match against Maribor.”
With Costa doubtful and Rémy ruled out, veteran striker Didier Drogba is expected to lead the line for the Blues at Old Trafford.
