Manchester United are reportedly deciding between two young talents, Geovany Quenda and Vitor Gyokeres, as they look to address their growing need for a consistent goalscorer this summer.
Quenda, a rising star of African heritage with roots in Angola, and Gyokeres, a prolific Swedish international, have emerged as the club’s top targets as they attempt to revive their struggling Premier League campaign.
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, writing in his GiveMeSport column, Gyokeres has become a priority target for United due to his connection with manager Ruben Amorim.
The Swedish striker has been in sensational form, netting a remarkable 80 goals in 89 appearances for Portuguese outfit Sporting CP.
With Paris Saint-Germain reportedly dropping out of the race for his signature, United are now in a strong position to make a move for the forward when the summer transfer window opens.
Meanwhile, MEN Sport reports that United have also maintained a long-standing interest in Geovany Quenda.
The Angola-born forward is seen as another potential solution to the club’s attacking woes.
However, Romano suggests that financial constraints imposed by owners INEOS and Sir Jim Ratcliffe may force United to choose between the two players rather than pursuing both.
This decision comes as current strikers Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Højlund continue to struggle, leaving United with a glaring gap in their attack.
The team’s poor form has left them languishing in 14th place in the Premier League, and the need for a reliable goalscorer has become increasingly urgent.
