Man City make breakthrough in Ayyoub Bouaddi pursuit as ‘now or June 2027’ decision emerges

Manchester City are making progress in negotiations with Lille over the signing of highly-rated midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi, with a key decision now set to determine whether the Morocco star joins the club immediately or in June 2027.

The Premier League giants have identified the 18-year-old as a major midfield target and remain in direct discussions with Lille as they work towards reaching an agreement before the transfer window closes.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, City are currently the frontrunners for Bouaddi’s signature, with talks ongoing between the two clubs and the player’s representatives.

“Manchester City remain in direct club to club talks with Lille for Ayyoub Bouaddi deal.

“Negotiations ongoing with player and club sides as #MCFC remain the most interested club in Bouaddi.

“Decision to make: Ayyoub to join now or in June 2027.”

Rodri’s future could influence Bouaddi transfer timeline

Bouaddi’s potential move to Manchester City is closely linked to uncertainty surrounding Rodri’s future.

Reports of interest from Real Madrid have raised questions over the Spanish midfielder’s long-term stay at the Etihad, with City monitoring developments before deciding the timing of Bouaddi’s arrival.

A departure for Rodri could prompt City to push for Bouaddi’s immediate transfer, while an agreement could also be reached for the teenager to remain at Lille before moving to England in June 2027.

The Moroccan international has emerged as one of Europe’s most exciting young midfielders following his impressive World Cup displays, earning comparisons with Rodri because of his composure, passing ability and control in midfield.

Lille place £100m valuation on teenage star

City face competition from some of Europe’s biggest clubs, including Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and Bayern Munich, who have all followed Bouaddi’s rapid development.

Lille are reportedly demanding a fee in the region of £85 million to £100 million for the midfielder, with Manchester City prepared to meet their valuation as they look to secure one of football’s brightest prospects.

Bouaddi’s performances at the World Cup further increased his reputation. He recorded the most touches in a match with 88, won the most duels with 11 and completed the most successful passes in the opposition half with 30.

His 60 completed passes also made him the second-youngest player in the last 60 years to complete more than 50 passes in a World Cup match.

With negotiations advancing, Manchester City are now close to securing a deal for Bouaddi, with the only remaining decision being whether the midfielder arrives immediately or completes his move in June 2027.
