Young Senegalese winger Mamoudou Cissokho earns first professional contract at Auxerre
AJ Auxerre have rewarded promising Senegalese winger Mamoudou Cissokho with his first professional contract, securing the youngster’s services until June 2029.
The Ligue 1 club confirmed the agreement on Monday, marking an important milestone in the development of one of the academy’s emerging talents.
Cissokho, 18, joined Auxerre from Versailles in January 2025 and quickly made an impression after arriving in Burgundy. Born in France and eligible for Senegal, the young attacker progressed rapidly through the club’s youth system, earning opportunities at several levels within a short period.
After initially featuring for the Under-19 side, he soon advanced to the reserve team, where his performances continued to attract attention.
His impact was immediate. Cissokho scored four goals in five appearances for the Under-19s before carrying that form into the reserve side, where he found the net three times in 14 matches. Those displays reinforced the belief within the club that he possesses significant potential for the future.
The winger’s consistent development eventually opened the door to first-team football.
During the most recent campaign, he made his Ligue 1 debut in matches against Metz and Angers, with Auxerre winning both encounters 3-1. Those appearances represented another important step in his progression and provided him with valuable experience at the highest domestic level.
Cissokho also featured in the Coupe de France, making his debut in the competition after coming off the bench against Monaco.
The decision to hand him a long-term professional contract reflects the confidence Auxerre have in his abilities and future prospects.
By extending his stay until 2029, the club has moved to secure one of its most promising young players as he continues his development.
For Cissokho, the agreement is the latest reward for a season of steady progress and hard work. Having successfully moved from youth football to the fringes of the senior squad, he now has the opportunity to continue his growth within a professional environment.
The new deal also underlines Auxerre’s commitment to developing young talent and integrating promising academy players into the first-team setup.
With his future now secured, Cissokho will be aiming to build on his early breakthroughs and establish himself as a regular presence within the club’s senior ranks over the coming years.
His journey from youth football to professional status has been swift, and Auxerre will hope there is much more to come from the talented Senegalese winger.
