Spanish trainer Miguel Cardoso will lead South African powerhouse Mamelodi Sundowns in the upcoming 2025/26 football campaign.
Cardoso came under intense pressure after the side missed out on the CAF Champions League title. Sundowns fell short to Pyramids FC after two-legged clash in highly competitive clash.
Despite the disappointment in the CAF Champions League final, the team’s impressive performance in the FIFA Club World Cup have strengthened his position in the eyes of the club.
Sundowns finished third in their FIFA Club World Cup group, following a win over Ulsan HD, a draw against Fluminense, and a thrilling match against Borussia Dortmund, in which the Brazilians were ultimately defeated.
As a result, the club will support him during the upcoming transfer window to give Sundowns another shot at winning the Champions League.
Cardoso took the reins of the South African powerhouse in December 2024, quickly clinched the national championship, and also led the team to the FIFA Club World Cup in the USA.
