Mamelodi Sundowns set for major squad restructuring ahead of next season
South African giants Mamelodi Sundowns is set to embark on a major squad restricting ahead of the 2025/26 football campaign.
The Brazilians are currently competing in the FIFA Club World Cup without any new signings. Meanwhile, the club has begun to trim their roster, parting ways with a couple of players this summer.
Sundowns have already sever ties with midfielder Sipho Mbule, defender Rivaldo Coetzee and Argentine loanee Lucas Suarez, with other players set to follow suit.
With head coach Miguel Cardoso set to embark on his own recruitment, several other players including Terrence Mashego, Matias Esquivel, Kobamelo Kodisang, Kegan Johannes, and Thapelo Maseko are reportedly on the chopping block as Sundowns look to rebuild.
The South African giants had a flying start to the FIFA Club World Cup tournament, inflicting a 1-0 win over Ulsan UD FC win. Sundowns are hoping to make a meaningful impact at the expanded tournament.
