Rashid Sumaili, the Ghanaian central defender currently plying his trade at Mamelodi Sundowns in South Africa, might be making a move next season. According to reports from KickOff, Sumaili has garnered interest from various clubs, including those from the French Ligue 1.
Thulani Thuswa, the head of the South African club, confirmed, “I will not mention the names of the clubs but I can confirm that we have received offers from Russia, France, and Belgium, and we are ready to negotiate.”
Additionally, TEXIS, the agency representing Sumaili’s interests, corroborated this information to Footmercato, stating, “There are obviously a lot of clubs interested in Rashid, in France, Turkey, and elsewhere. So far, I have not received any official offers. Maybe Sundowns received some, but they didn’t tell me. I think they will prefer to sell him after the World Cup, which he will undoubtedly play with Ghana, to take advantage of his exposure and try to raise his price.”
At just 21 years old, Sumaili will undoubtedly be under close observation during the upcoming FIFA World Cup in Brazil, where he is expected to represent the Black Stars of Ghana. Depending on his performance, it remains uncertain whether he will continue his stint with Mamelodi Sundowns after the tournament.
