Mamelodi Sundowns name starting XI for Milford clash as Betway Premiership returns

Mamelodi Sundowns resume their Betway Premiership campaign against Milford at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Wednesday, with kick-off scheduled for 19:30.

The match follows a demanding period for the African champions, who secured a place in the MTN8 final after a determined contest against Golden Arrows on Sunday. Sundowns progressed on the away-goal rule.

The fixture has also been described in the build-up as a meeting with Marumo Gallants, while the confirmed line-ups list Milford as Sundowns’ opponents.

Sundowns enter the game in strong league form after beating AmaZulu 5-2 last week. They remain three points behind leaders Orlando Pirates, who strengthened their position by defeating winless bottom side Kruger United 4-0 on Tuesday.

Milford, meanwhile, have had to adjust quickly to the demands of top-flight football. Despite the difficulty of their debut campaign, the club sit fifth in the table and have put together a three-match unbeaten run.

The Believers followed their opening-day defeat by champions Orlando Pirates with victories over Siwelele FC and fellow newcomers Kruger United. They then held Polokwane City in their most recent match, extending their positive run.

Sundowns have no significant absences caused by injury or suspension for the encounter. Milford will be without Menzi Chili, however, after he was sent off in the first half of their match against the Village boys.

The contest will be Milford’s first major meeting with the current champions of the continent since entering the top flight.

Sundowns have selected Williams in goal, with Mdunyelwa, Khoza, Kekana and Modiba forming the defensive unit. Aubaas, Allende and Van Wyk are included in midfield, while B. Mokoena, Matthews and Rayners lead the attack.

Mamelodi Sundowns’ substitutes are Goss, Morena, Mvala, Basadien, Mokoena, Zwane, Ndlovu, Mailula and Leon.

Milford start with Hleza, Bhengu, Mthabela, Mdluli, Cele, Mthethwa, Nomandela, Mabena, Mbunga, Sigomoshe and Ndlabi.

The Milford substitutes are Nkosi, Siyaya, Khwana, Zikakayo, Chabanhu, Joyi, Gxakoshe, Radebe and Masilela.

Kick-off is at 19:30.
