Mamelodi Sundowns move six points clear at top of South African top-flight after thrashing Siwelele FC

Mamelodi Sundowns strengthened their position at the summit of the South African Premiership after securing a convincing 3-0 victory over Siwelele FC in a league encounter at Loftus Versfeld.

The result sees the reigning champions move six points clear at the top of the table as they continue their impressive start to the campaign under head coach Miguel Cardoso.

Sundowns produced a dominant display and were rewarded with three goals, with Kutlwano Letlhaku, Siyanda Ndlovu and Tashreeq Matthews all finding the back of the net to seal a comfortable victory for the Brazilians.

Letlhaku opened the scoring to give Sundowns the perfect start before Ndlovu doubled the advantage, putting Cardoso’s side firmly in control of proceedings.

Matthews then completed the scoring to cap an impressive performance from the home side and secure all three points.

The victory further underlines Sundowns’ title credentials, with the Pretoria giants once again demonstrating their strength and consistency in the South African top flight.

Cardoso will be particularly pleased with the clean sheet, while the three goals ensured Sundowns maintained their strong attacking output as they continue their pursuit of another league title.

Siwelele FC, meanwhile, struggled to contain the champions and were unable to find a response after falling behind.

With the victory, Sundowns have opened up a six-point advantage at the top of the Betway Premiership, putting pressure on their closest challengers to keep pace.
