Mamelodi Sundowns defender Grant Kekana is proud of his outfit output at the FIFA Club World Cup despite suffering early elimination from the tournament.
The South African giants made a good account of themselves at the tournament, finishing third in Group F. The Brazilian won one game, lost one and drew one in a highly competitive group.
While expressing disappointment for not reaching the knockout stage, Kekana believes the experience lays a foundation for the future.
“This is something we can be proud of. Of course, we still have a lot to learn — we made mistakes, we weren’t clinical enough in front of goal — but that’s part of football. What matters is that we stuck together”
“We’re a united group, there’s a real sense of brotherhood here, and we can be proud of the effort we put in. Naturally, we’re disappointed not to progress to the next round, but this gives us something to build on,” Kekana said.
Sundowns will now shift their attention to the upcoming football campaign.
