South African giants Mamelodi Sundowns have confirmed the departure of midfielder Rivaldo Coetzee, bringing an end to his eight-year spell at the club.
The 28-year-old joined the Masandawana outfit in 2017 and established himself as a key cog o the team, marking over 130 appearances across competitions for the club.
Coetzee had a fruitful spell with Mamelodi Sundowns, clinching an incredible 14 trophies with the Brazilians.
“The Yellow Nation thanks Rivaldo Coetzee for eight years as a Sandawana. After winning 14 trophies in his time with the Club and making over 130 appearances, the Mamelodi Sundowns family wishes you all the best in your next chapter” wrote the club.
Mamelodi Sundowns have shifted their attention on restructuring their squad for the new season following the FIFA Club World Cup participation.
As was the case in the previous transfer windows, Sundowns are expected to be active as they hope to get players who can help them achieve their season targets.
Last season, they only managed to defend the PSL but fell short in the Nedbank Cup – they were eliminated in the semi-final by the eventual champions, Kaizer Chiefs, and in the CAF Champions League.
Their hope of winning a second continental star was dashed by Pyramids FC of Egypt, who won their first.
