Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso hails players after narrow win over AmaZulu
Mamelodi Sundowns tactician Miguel Cardoso has expressed pride following his outfit victory over AmaZulu in the South African top-flight.
The Brazilians narrowly triumphed over AmaZulu on Wednesday night of pile pressure on rivals Orlando Pirates, as the battle for the trophy heats up.
Marcello Allende emerged as the hero for Sundowns at Moses Mabhida Stadium, netting the match-winner as the side leapfrog Orlando Pirates at the top of the PSL standings.
“But a great job, really proud of the boys, commitment, energy, still some fatigue on the players it’s clear we need to focus more than ever on rest,” Cardoso said after the game.
“Since the beginning of the season the demands put on them and sometimes, they obviously need to rest and amazing job, let’s pick the week to fix some energy and face the next match with the same fitness, commitment, and quality and same desire passion. That’s obviously what’ll make the difference for us.”
Sundowns have regained the top spot on the standings through their superior goal difference to Pirates as both teams are on 38 points.
Pirates face their arch-rivals in Kaizer Chiefs this weekend, where they will be hoping for maximum points to keep pace with Sundowns on the standings.
