Mamelodi Sundowns close in on AmaZulu defender Wandile Dube

Mamelodi Sundowns are set to sign highly rated AmaZulu centre-back Wandile Dube, beating Orlando Pirates to the 22-year-old’s signature.

Dube has travelled to Johannesburg for a medical ahead of completing his move to the Tshwane club and joining the Sundowns squad.

The defender has made significant progress since being promoted to AmaZulu’s senior team over the past two seasons. He made 10 appearances in all competitions during the 2025/26 campaign, attracting attention from several clubs, including Orlando Pirates.

The Buccaneers had been tracking Dube and made enquiries about his availability in recent weeks as they considered strengthening their defence.

However, sources close to the negotiations indicate that Sundowns have moved ahead in the race to sign the young defender. The development was first reported by FARPost.

Sundowns are keen to add another centre-back before the transfer window closes, and Dube is now expected to complete the move once his medical has been concluded.
