Mamelodi Sundowns arrive in Austria for preseason

Mamelodi Sundowns have resumed their preparations for the new season after arriving in Austria for their pre-season training camp.

The South African Premiership giants had to put their travel plans on hold earlier in the week following the tragic passing of former player Jayden Adams, who died a week ago.

The club took time to mourn the loss of the talented midfielder before returning their focus to preparations for the upcoming campaign. After the necessary arrangements and tributes were made, Sundowns finally departed for Europe and touched down in Vienna.

The Austrian camp is expected to play a key role in the club’s preparations as they look to build fitness, improve tactical cohesion and give players valuable minutes ahead of what promises to be another demanding season.

Sundowns will use the tour to intensify their training sessions and are expected to play a number of friendly matches as head coach and his technical team assess the squad ahead of competitive action.

The Pretoria-based side will be aiming to continue their dominance in South African football while also making a strong impact in continental competitions. After consistently competing at the highest level in recent years, the club understands the importance of a well-organised pre-season programme.

The trip to Austria also comes during an emotional period for the Sundowns family following the passing of Adams, whose death sent shockwaves across South African football. The club joined players, supporters and the wider football community in paying tribute to the former midfielder.

Now that the European camp is underway, Sundowns will turn their attention fully towards preparations on the pitch, with the goal of returning to South Africa sharper, fitter and ready for another challenging season.
