Mame Baba Thiam has moved into second place among Senegal’s all-time top scorers in the Turkish Süper Lig following his latest goal for Eyüpspor on 14 April.
The forward found the net during a commanding 6-0 win over Demirspor on Matchday 31, lifting his career tally in the league to 68 goals.
With the milestone, Thiam surpasses former Fenerbahçe and Lille striker Moussa Sow, who netted 67 goals during his time in Türkiye.
The 31-year-old now trails only Mbaye Diagne, who leads the all-time Senegalese chart with 76 goals.
Thiam’s scoring record is a testament to his consistency and longevity in the league, having represented several clubs in Türkiye since his arrival.
This season, his contributions have been vital in Eyüpspor’s campaign as they aim to solidify their place in the upper half of the table.
The current ranking of Senegalese top scorers in the Süper Lig now reads:
- Mbaye Diagne – 76 goals
- Mame Baba Thiam – 68 goals
- Moussa Sow – 67 goals
- Demba Ba – 46 goals
- Papiss Demba Cissé – 45 goals
- Mame Biram Diouf – 40 goals
- Badou Ndiaye – 34 goals
- Chérif Ndiaye – 29 goals
- Mamadou Fall – 27 goals
- Diomansy Kamara – 26 goals
Thiam’s rise up the leaderboard marks a significant moment in his career, as he edges closer to claiming the top spot in a list that includes some of Senegal’s most iconic forwards.
His style of play—marked by movement, sharp finishing, and positional awareness—has helped him thrive across various Turkish clubs, and his determination to continue scoring suggests he has no intention of slowing down.
With five matchdays remaining in the current season, Thiam has a realistic chance of narrowing the gap with Diagne, potentially setting up a record-breaking campaign next year.
As he closes in on becoming the most prolific Senegalese scorer in Süper Lig history, Thiam’s name now stands alongside the likes of Demba Ba, Papiss Cissé, and Diomansy Kamara—all of whom made their mark in both Turkish and European football.
