Mamdouh Abbas, former president of Zamalek SC, has made a bold public plea, urging the club to reconsider any plans to part ways with star left-back Ahmed Fatouh.
Zamalek recently sanctioned Fatouh with a one million Egyptian pound fine and launched an investigation after he was seen at a concert with Al Ahly’s Emam Ashour. The club claims he had been excused from training to visit an ill relative, not to attend an event.
Abbas, who led Zamalek through some of its most defining years, did not hold back in his comments on social media. He stressed that Fatouh remains vital to the club’s future and identity.
“I do not understand this uproar over Ahmed Fatouh, the captain of the Zamalek Club. His contract is extended, and the man is a lover of the Zamalek Club. I am not in favor of loaning him out or selling him, so as not to cry over spilt milk,” he posted on X.
“In addition to being the captain and left-back of Zamalek, he is also the left-back of the Egyptian national team. Thank you.”
