New Chelsea signing Mamadou Sarr has expressed excitement over his move to Stamford Bridge, describing the club as the perfect environment for young talent with ambition.
The 19-year-old, who is of Senegalese descent, completed his transfer from Strasbourg earlier this week, joining a growing list of youthful additions as part of Chelsea’s long-term squad-building strategy.
Speaking to the club’s media, the teenage defender made no secret of his lofty goals in London.
“It’s simple. The dream is to win the Premier League and the Champions League with Chelsea,” he said, making clear his ambitions from the outset.
Sarr also recalled his admiration for past Chelsea greats, singling out the likes of N’Golo Kanté, Didier Drogba, and Claude Makélélé, players whose African and Francophone roots he shares.
“The best for me is Kanté but there are so many Chelsea players I remember admiring,” he added.
Reflecting on his arrival at Cobham, Sarr said the moment felt surreal.
“It was a dream come true when I saw the badge everywhere… I realised where I am and who I will train with,” he noted, describing the training facilities as “very big” and “beautiful”.
The young centre-back was particularly drawn to Chelsea’s investment in youth.
“Chelsea have a good project in place for young players. The supporters, the club, its history and the stadium are all fantastic. It’s an iconic club with a full history,” he said.
Now part of Chelsea’s preseason setup, Sarr will look to impress head coach Enzo Maresca and push for a role in the senior squad during the 2025/26 campaign.
