Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior has heaped praise on Senegalese defender Mamadou Sarr, hailing him as a talent capable of reaching the very top of world football.
Sarr, who played a key role in Senegal’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations triumph with the Teranga Lions, has been recalled by Chelsea from French club RC Strasbourg Alsace.
The centre-back is set to feature in Chelsea’s squad for their Premier League clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers tonight.
Speaking ahead of the game, Rosenior highlighted Sarr’s potential, describing him as a player with the qualities to become one of the world’s best in his position.
“Everyone knows what I think about Mamadou, he’s got the potential to be a world-class centre-back,” Rosenior said.
“I’m delighted he’s here and thank the sporting directors and ownership for supporting what I thought was the right decision,” he added.
The 20-year-old spent the first half of this season on loan at Strasbourg, where he made 18 appearances in all competitions and captained the Ligue 1 side in the majority of those games.
The west Londoners confirmed on Thursday that the young defender will wear the number 19 shirt for the rest of the 2025/26 season.
