Mamadou Sakho, currently playing for Liverpool in the English Premier League, recently reflected on his football journey in an interview with L’Equipe Magazine. The French international, who emerged from the Paris Saint-Germain youth academy, revealed that he could have pursued a different path in his career.
Sakho disclosed that at a young age, around 12-13 years old, he received interest from renowned European clubs like Bayern Munich. However, despite the tempting offers, Sakho’s father, who passed away, advised him to remain at PSG. His father believed that Sakho would become famous at PSG before considering a move elsewhere.
Sakho’s loyalty to PSG paid off, as he rose through the ranks and became a prominent figure in the club’s first team. Eventually, he ventured abroad and joined Liverpool, where he continues to make significant contributions.
Despite facing challenges, including injuries, Sakho remains determined to reclaim his spot in the starting lineup and make a meaningful impact for Liverpool.
