Mamadou Niang Returns to French Football with Arles-Avignon
Former Senegal international Mamadou Niang has made a return to French football after a four-year absence, signing with Ligue 2 side Arles-Avignon. The 34-year-old striker, who has been in negotiations with the club for the past two months, has finally agreed to terms and is set to bolster the team’s attacking options.
Niang, who will turn 35 in October, had been aiming to return to Ligue 1 but ultimately chose Arles-Avignon as the next step in his career. The experienced forward brings a wealth of international experience, having spent recent years playing in Turkey for Fenerbahçe and Beşiktaş, as well as in Qatar with Al-Sadd.
His return to French football marks a new chapter for the striker, who once enjoyed prolific spells in Ligue 1, and will be closely watched as he looks to make an impact in the French second tier.
