Mamadou Lamine Sadio stars for Nordsjælland in Conference League

Mamadou Lamine Sadio produced another influential performance as FC Nordsjælland defeated FC St. Gallen 3-2 to secure a place in the Conference League group stage with a 4-2 aggregate victory.

The Senegalese forward was handed his first start for Nordsjælland and immediately made an impact, setting up the opening goal in the 14th minute.

Sadio created the opportunity for Lähteenmäki, who finished to put the Danish side ahead in the second leg after Nordsjælland had already won the first meeting 1-0.

St. Gallen responded seven minutes later when Görtler converted from the penalty spot to bring the Swiss side level.

Nordsjælland quickly restored their advantage, with Prince Amoako Junior finding the net just three minutes after the equaliser.

The match continued at a frantic pace, however, and St. Gallen struck again in the 28th minute through Aliou Baldé to make it 2-2 on the night.

With the tie still finely balanced, Nordsjælland eventually found the decisive goal eight minutes from the end of normal time.

Rasmussen scored in the 82nd minute to give the Danish club a 3-2 victory on the night and complete a 4-2 aggregate success.

The result extends Nordsjælland’s European campaign and gives Sadio another opportunity to make an impression on the continental stage.

The Senegalese forward had already played a key role in the previous qualifying round against Valur.

In the second leg of that tie, Sadio scored once and supplied an assist as Nordsjælland recorded a 5-0 victory to progress.

His latest contribution against St. Gallen further underlines his growing influence for the Danish club as they prepare for the next stage of their European campaign.

Following the conclusion of the qualifying round, Nordsjælland now know the teams they will face in the Conference League group stage.

The Danish side have been placed in Pot 5 alongside AGF, Jablonec, Hajduk Split, Inter Escaldes and Riga.

Sadio will now have the chance to continue his European journey with Nordsjælland and use the group-stage matches to further establish himself with the club.

After making an impact against both Valur and St. Gallen, the Senegalese striker will be hoping to maintain his form when Nordsjælland begin their next phase of European competition.
