Malmo sporting director delighted after Ghana’s Isaac Assibu signs deal until 2030

Malmö FF sporting director Philip Berglund has expressed his delight after Ghanaian winger Isaac Assibu committed his future to the Swedish giants with a contract extension until 2030.

The 18-year-old has been rewarded for his rapid progress since arriving from WAFA Academy in Ghana earlier this year, with Malmö also confirming his permanent promotion to the first team.

Assibu initially joined the club’s P19 squad, where he made six appearances and scored three goals in the P19 Allsvenskan before earning opportunities with the senior team.

His consistent performances during first-team training caught the attention of the coaching staff and eventually led to his involvement in the Allsvenskan squad.

The Ghanaian made his top-flight debut after coming on at half-time against Kalmar FF, marking another important step in his development.

Berglund believes extending Assibu’s contract was an important decision as the club continues to invest in his potential.

“It will be exciting to continue following Isaac’s development when he now permanently moves up to our men’s team from P19,” Berglund said.

“We are very happy to write an agreement with him until 2030.”

The talented winger is expected to continue his growth within the first-team environment as he aims to establish himself in Swedish football’s top division.
