Mali international Ibrahim Sissoko has shared his excitement after securing a move to German Bundesliga 2 outfit Vfl Bochum.
Sissoko joins Bochum after ending his spell with French outfit Saint Etienne following a two-year spell at the club.
“I’m very happy to be here in Bochum and I can’t wait to get out on the pitch with my teammates. I’ve heard a lot about the atmosphere in German stadiums and I’m looking forward to experiencing it up close.” He said.
Signed from Sochaux in the summer of 2023, the Ivorian striker quickly became a pivotal figure for Saint Etienne in the Ligue 2 campaign which saw them return to Ligue 1.
Sissoko scored 13 goals during his debut season, including a vital strike against Metz in the first leg of the Ligue 1 promotion/relegation play-off to help the club seal its return to the top flight.
In the just ended season, he had only managed three goals and one assist as he played second fiddle to the return of Irvin Cardona and the rise of Lucas Stassin.
Despite having a running contract with Saint Etienne, the attacker has parted ways with the club as he heads to Bundesliga 2 club Bochum.
He is expected to play a huge role for the club as they seek to bounce back to the Bundesliga next campaign.
